Anybody can have a child, but the job of being a Father is a title that deserves a lot more effort. Being a Dad is a title that has changed drastically within the past decades. As we Dad’s know, being a Dad today is not always the easiest job. Raising little humans becomes the priority over everything else in your life. This way of parenting is the modern standard for Dadhood. Barack Obama serves as a great example in this category. On his twitter account “Dad’’ is listed first in his bio. When asked why he listed Dad first in his bio, his answer was, “my roles are in order of importance.” This was the perfect answer that defines what it means to be a modern-day dad.
The dated concept of the nuclear family has grown and adapted to fit our modern times. Today, 80% of women continue to work full time after having children. To keep up with the modern working Mama, the standard for fathers to pull their weight as a more involved parent is growing exponentially as well. Additionally, the definition of who is a Dad is becoming a more flexible term as well. Dads can be single, unmarried, unemployed, gay or straight, adoptive, a stepfather and so on.
A Father is a role model for how we see the next generation acting like. Being a father is a being something bigger than yourself, leaving your mark on how you see the future generations behaving to one another and to children of their own some day. The modern father is someone who is there for their child and knows the impact that they can have on not only their child but also in the future.
